Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas → Merzouga Desert (Approx. 7-8 hours driving)
You’ll be collected early from your riad in Marrakech and set off east through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. The view changes from green valleys to arid plateaus. Around midday, pause for lunch near Ouarzazate, then continue through Skoura and the palm-lined landscapes. In the afternoon arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara. As evening approaches, mount your camel and journey into the dunes. Witness a desert sunset, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in a traditional Arabic camp under the stars.
Day 2: Sunrise in the Dunes → Desert Experiences → Merzouga Lodge (Minimal driving, mostly immersive)
Wake early to see the sunrise over the golden dunes, a moment of peace and awe. After breakfast, enjoy a full day in the Sahara: optional camel rides, dune trekking, and perhaps a 4×4 excursion to explore remote desert scenery. Afternoon visits to nomadic communities or local villages give insight into Berber desert life. Return to the camp for dinner, a drum circle, and an overnight stay among the dunes.
Day 3: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Atlas Passed Return to Marrakech (Approx. 8-9 hours driving)
After another early desert sunrise and breakfast, ride your camel back to Merzouga village, then begin the drive back toward Marrakech. The route takes you through the lush Ziz Valley with its palm groves, then through Midelt. As the road climbs into the High Atlas Mountains, enjoy changing landscapes, rocky hills, cedar forests, and cool air. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where the tour ends with a drop-off at your accommodation.
